Marketing Projects
Below are a few of the marketing projects I have been involved with:
My team and I started an e-commerce business for our Practicum at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. We had to sell and run our online business and social media profiles for eight weeks. We had to purchase initial materials, business licenses, etc. with only a $200 starting budget and had to use the profits from our initial sales to buy more supplies and advertise in whatever way we saw fit. In eight weeks we made just under $11,000 in revenue.
My primary job was to run the website and make sure we had all the supplies needed and did not oversell. I also kept track of orders and analyzed analytics to see where our customers were coming from and how we could better imporve our marketing
I, along with a group of three others, worked with the Mercedes-Benz Retail Group over a three-month period to help market and sell their B-class car by creating a marketing campaign. At the end of the three months, there was a final presentation that was held at the downtown Mercedes-Benz location in front of a panel of six employees that were involved with different areas of the company. We had a $200,000 campaign budget and had only 15 minutes to pitch our idea to the panel.
I was involved with a complete company re-brand. This included colours, fonts, logos, and promotional material, to name a few, for all locations. I was part of the implementation and decision-making process which included giving company-wide presentations to educate employees on the importance of branding as well as educate employees on the guidelines and making sure no previous branding material was being used. This was a multi-staged project that I continue to help manage. I approve internal and external publications, both physical and digital, to ensure consistent branding throughout all company locations.
I was also part of the website re-branding. After I started with the company, in the fall of 2016, it was apparent that a complete overhaul was needed. After a lot of back and forth with a creative company, we finally achieved a more user-friendly website. Now with new skills I have learned, I am able to create new pages and update the existing ones. Part of my job is to analyze Google Analytics and make recommendations based on findings. I also maintain each page to make sure all information is relevant on an on-going basis.
The focus of this project was to create a key account plan to determine who would be the best new potential client. For this project, I used Chrissycakes, a sole-proprietorship business that sells confectionery goods. The purpose was to find potential prospective clients and determine the amount of business that could be gained from the company. I had to have access and be trusted with confidential information, such as revenues and profits, in order to develop a three-year forecast on the potential profit and revenue Chrissycakes could receive from the new company and to decide whether it was plausible to pursue the new company as a client.
I had to take a sales class which consisted of each student raising $600 for the KPU Scholarship Fund for the marketing students. For this, we had to contact 50 companies and pitch the idea of them donating to the fund. We had to set up at least ten meetings with companies from which we would try and obtain a donation. You could also acquire products from companies instead of a monetary donation (all physical donations accounted for half of the worth value). I was one of four students (out of 35) that completed the minimum $600 goal. We had six weeks to complete the goal and receive the money.
